Yep, this is what we also got with our little adopted son Joey when we decided it was time to "Ditch the Dummy"!
Joey came into our care at just 20 months old and yes, he was addicted to his Binky. We tried all of the above, nothing worked!
Then we heard of snipping a hole in one of Joey's existing pacifiers from a family friend, this renders the pacifier unsatisfying for the child, we tried it, and yes it worked, within a couple of days Joey set aside his binky himself and quickly forgot about it.
However, I came across an article on this "do it yourself" method and was horrified to learn that altering an existing pacifier could be extremely dangerous, slivers of silicon can become in-bedded in your child's gums or pieces can even break off and become a choking hazard, and parents have been using this method for decades!
